11 reasons why SG is better this season

I agree with most of those points. I'm still not on board with Mon El. I hope he doesn't stay on for season 3. That's nothing against Chris Wood, but having the relationship continue puts in the risk of the relationship, and by extension, the show, getting stale.

I do enjoy that other characters have gotten some focus. But I'd be lying if I said it didn't come at the expense of Melissa's screentime. The Sanvers story, while important and amazing, has made anything going on with Kara this season seem less important, by comparison. And really, that's a writing issue.

It's important to give our supporting characters depth. But between the Guardian storyline, Winn's romance (which I actually love, but I'm just using it as an example of the existing side plots), Alex and Maggie, and J'onn's story with M'gann (which has admittedly taken a backseat in recent episodes), there I don't feel like Kara's getting a worthwhile story.

Don't get me wrong. Kara as Supergirl continues to be AMAZING. The fight choreography is better, we're getting better effects, more iconic villains, and fantastic guest stars. But it's Kara's personal and professional life, outside the suit, that has taken a back seat. I was super excited for her to become a reporter, and what that might entail...but it's only been referenced a handful of times. And Kara saying she might not need her job, because Mon El and being Supergirl are enough? I've spent a lot of this season defending the relationship, but that was super "bleh", to me.

I continue to have high hopes for this show. I watch it every week, and look forward to it every time. But I have yet to see a single episode, this season, as powerful as "Red Faced", "Human for a Day", "For the Girl who has Everything", or "Falling". Heck, my favorite moment, last year, was from the end of "Solitude", where Kara embraces both Alex and J'onn. I love the action and scope of this year, but I have yet to see anything quite as emotionally gripping as that scene. Alex's coming out episode came close, in terms of giving some strong scenes to Alex, but Melissa just hasn't had any really emotionally gripping scenes as Kara, this year.

in my opinion most powerful scene in the series was the ship save in exodus.

I could name numerous improvements this season but with all the benefits also came new faults previously unseen.

Honestly I just hope the next season retains the creativity and awesome acting, but at utmost importance, receives an actual well-planned, coherent storyline.

Interesting article. Some of the points I agree with, like the introduction of Lena, Mon-El, Lillian. Technically, I think Season 2 is far superior. The set, directing, CGI, makeup, etc are superior. The stories, I still find lacking. I personally think "Exodus" is the best episode, thus far. Like others have stated, we had several more good ones last season.

The writing has always been the problem and you cannot fully blame the writers. The EPs set the season narrative and this Season's is all over the place. I think they could have focused on Cadmus more effectively and then brought in the Daximites to really tie up knots. This should not have interfered with the ongoing romantic subplots and introducing the occasional human or alien villain.

So what is my Christmas wish? I want to see the EPs produce a cohesive and compelling narrative for Season 3. If they are capable of this, then I think the writing will improve.

I gotta disagree with part of the first sentence though - "In a season where DC Comics shows haven’t been at their best". Arrow has been solid this season, Flash is better than last season, and Legends was way better than last season.
